High Weald House – the latest office development on the Bexhill Enterprise Park – has now been completed.

The only large new office building available to let in the whole of the Hastings and Bexhill area, High Weald House is a multi-occupier property suited to small, medium and large firms. And its first occupier, accounting and tax planning firm Acuity Professional, has immediately moved in on the second floor.

High Weald House is a contemporary office building in a countryside setting – the second to be created on the Bexhill Enterprise Park.

Developed by economic development company Sea Change Sussex, the 25,674 sq ft building is arranged over three floors and stands in the south-western part of the business park, next to Glovers House and near the Combe Valley Way roundabout.

Offices to let range from 621 sq ft up to the 22,511 sq ft remaining in the building. Flexible lease terms are available for the small and medium sized units.

First occupier – Acuity Professional

Acuity Professional moved into High Weald House at the beginning of this week, as soon as the building was completed. The company has let a large section of the second floor, with views across the surrounding countryside.

Established in 2007, the Acuity Group provides professional accountancy and tax planning services including audit, statutory year-end accounting, bookkeeping and tax advice. It also provides investment advisory services, corporate and commercial finance.

With its head office in the City of London, Acuity recently acquired additional accountancy firms from St Leonards and Uckfield. This has given it a 30-strong Sussex regional team (shown below) which will now be serving its clients from High Weald House.

Debbie Hargreaves, Partner at Acuity, comments:

“We’re delighted to be in our brand new offices in High Weald House. Our firm has continued to grow and develop in recent years. This new office will give us a great hub to serve our clients and the Sussex business community as we establish the firm as a growing local accountancy and financial services player.”

Rachel Taylor, another Acuity Partner, adds:

“In providing our clients with the accounting, tax and financial advisory services they need, we made the strategic decision to upgrade our previous premises to a creative, contemporary environment. We believe this will add value to our client experience and enhance the professional, collaborative ethos of our Sussex team.

“We chose High Weald House because of its location, ease of access and fresh facilities. Our new base on the Bexhill Enterprise Park will give us a great platform to expand our client reach and attract high-calibre talent to join our growing team.”

High Weald House details

High Weald House was designed by AHR Architects. Like Glovers House — the first offices on the Enterprise Park, which are fully occupied by Park Holidays UK — it has timber external cladding above a brick base to blend with its countryside setting.

The building is also similar to Sea Change’s Pacific House offices in Eastbourne, which are now 80% let.

Internally, High Weald House has a light-filled atrium incorporating meeting areas and tea points, designed to encourage the tenants to mix and collaborate.

It has ample on-site parking and is an energy-efficient building — with an EPC rating of A(21) — making the most of daylight and natural ventilation.

The High Weald House project is supported by East Sussex County Council and the South East Local Enterprise Partnership.

Bexhill Enterprise Park background

In addition to High Weald House, serviced plots on the Bexhill Enterprise Park are available which can accommodate up to 220,000 sq ft of business premises. Companies can buy these plots to develop their own properties or commission Sea Change to develop schemes to their specification.

The Bexhill Enterprise Park is part of a programme outlined in the Rother Local Plan to create a major new business and residential community to the north-east of Bexhill. This is designed to provide long-term jobs and homes to accommodate population expansion in the Hastings and Bexhill area.
